Gythion is a small seaside town, situated in the northeast part of Mani, in the southern part of the mainland of Greece, Peloponnese. Gythion is the second largest city in Laconia after Sparta. It is considered as the central spot of Laconia. Therefore it can be used as the starting point for excursions, fishing and hunting. Gythion enjoys perhaps one of the best subtropical Mediterranean climates with approximately 300 days of sunshine each year. The light rainy season is normally confined to the period between November and March. Mild temperatures prevail year round.
